What is going on with this restaurant in EPCOT, and why is its fate still up in the air?

The Morocco Pavilion in EPCOT has been a little low on dining offerings ever since the COVID-19 pandemic. Previously, you could dine at Restaurant Marrakesh, Spice Road Table, or Tangierine Cafe pre-2020 days. However, Restaurant Marrakesh has been closed ever since. This restaurant served Moroccan fare and even offered entertainment in the form of a belly dancer. So what’s going on with it now?
For the past few years, Restaurant Marrakesh has been open sparingly, but only as a lounge…and not the kind that you eat in! We’ve seen it open during the International Food & Wine Festival as a lounge for Florida Blue members. It offered a place for those members to relax and take a break from the crowds.

Disney just announced that V.I.Passholder Days are returning this summer. This will kick off on May 14th and run through July 31st. Disney World offers select discounts and extra perks for Annual Passholders as a thank you. So what does this have to do with Restaurant Marrakesh?

Annual Passholders can enjoy a special Passholder-exclusive lounge every day from 11 AM to 7 PM at Restaurant Marrakesh in the Morocco Pavilion in EPCOT. This lounge will give you a chance to relax with some nice air conditioning while you enjoy complimentary snacks and drinks. You can also pick up your complimentary Passholder button, too!

While we don’t know what the long-term fate of this restaurant will be, we at least know for now it will remain closed until July 13th. We will keep our eyes out for any changes in the future for this restaurant. For more Disney news, follow us at DFB.

We loved Restaurant Marakesh. We loved the food (still missing you, Moroccan Sails), the entertainment, the atmosphere. The building is really beautiful inside. We haven’t been there since pre-COVID I guess. Hopefully we can make it to the passholder lounge on our next trip.
