Are you thinking about setting sail on a Disney Cruise and want to make sure it’s worth it? We’re breaking down why these ships are so expensive below.

Disney Cruise Line!
Whether it’s your 100th voyage or your first, keeping up with the experiences the Disney Cruise Line offers is never a bad idea. Whether you’re looking for pools, shows, or fun dining experiences, the Disney Cruise Line fleet has you covered. But why is the price tag SO high for these ships?

Disney cruises are notoriously more expensive than competitor cruises. Oftentimes, they’ll even be THOUSANDS of dollars pricier than other ships, depending on many different factors. This could be what port you sail out of, which ship you set sail on, and what time of year.

Disney Magic Cruise Ship
One way Disney is different than other cruise lines is that you’ll probably receive a greater amount of “all-inclusive” perks. When you go to book, you see that along with your stateroom price, it will include breakfast, lunch, dinner, soft drinks, character meet and greets, and some fabulous Disney entertainment. It also includes room service, which is very unique.
Do You Have to Dress Fancy for Dinner on Disney Cruises?

Mickey and Goofy at Castaway Cay
Of course, these all-inclusive offerings don’t necessarily even out Disney’s much higher prices, but the added convenience of not having to worry about extra charges. It can make your trip a lot less stressful. And that definitely counts for something.

Walt Disney Theater
A big part of why Disney is more expensive is because they KNOW they can get away with it. There’s a reason Disney is different. What other cruise line can you eat dinner with Elsa and Anna, sip on a drink inside a Haunted Mansion bar, and meet Mickey Mouse?

Haunted Mansion Parlor
It’s the same reason why Disney can get away with charging more for its theme parks versus the ticket prices you’ll find at your local amusement park. You’re gonna pay more for the overall theming and the rare chance to meet the characters you know and love. Different cruise lines are going to cater to different types of people, and Disney Cruise Line is going to deliver on the quality and experience the Disney parks are known for.
Are There Casinos on Disney Cruise Ships?

Could you still have a great vacation on another non-Disney ship? Of course. But, just like the Disney parks, you are likely to find something for everyone to love on a Disney Cruise ship. There really is such a thing as the “Disney difference”, a company policy of sorts that focuses on personal touch, attention to detail, and overall excellence to make everyone’s vacation experience unique and memorable.

I have been on 12 Disney cruises and am looking forward to going again when the grandchildren can exjoy the experience, but that said, while you pay more for Disney, Moore may not be better. It is nice to have the Buena Vista Theater and see a great movie, but the great movies are few and far between. In 12 cruises I have seen 2 first run features. The food is another issue. Dining, not the service, but the food is sorely in need of help in what entre’s are offered. I would expect at Disney Prices, at lease one lobster dinner, not not to bee. Many times I have eaten off of the children’s menus because there was nothing on the adult menu appealed to me. Free beverages are great 24/7 and the shows are top shelf productions. The guest appearances are hit and miss, some clearly tailored for the younger sect. And while there are no Casino;s (I’m ok with that” there is not enough adult entertainment. I definitely prefer the first 4 ships vs. the next 3. Voyaged on the Wish in its inaugural year, and vowed I would never go back. While I was on the first 4 ships during their inaugural year, it was much better, groundbreaking, cutting edge and inspiring. The wish is a floating bar with too many cocktails everywhere you looked. Disney is more expensive, but if you add up the quality of the experiences and freebie’s, Disney is not that more expensive if you look item for item between cruise line. You get what you pay for, at Disney you pay up front, the others nickel and dime you.
Disney looks like it cost more because they put all the prices up front. On the “less” expensive ships you have to pay for so many extra that are not included in the initial price. Want a set time to eat in their restaurants you need to up grade. Want soda, coffee, and tea pay extra and it is not cheap. Sometimes you even have to decide do you want to see a show or eat dinner. Plus how much you loose at gambling. No Disney is not higher priced they are just honest. Do you research then come to Cruise Disney and really have fun for just as much or less.
