Heads up! Disney World vacation packages are now available to book for 2026, and if you’re thinking about making the trip we’ve got an important update about Disney’s Moderate hotels!
For 2026 bookings, Disney will be adjusting the names of some room categories at Disney Moderate Resorts. Moving forward, the main room categories will be Standard Room, Preferred Room, or a room with a king bed. Some Disney Moderate Resorts will continue to offer additional categories, like the Royal Guest Room category at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort—Riverside.
Here’s a look at all the hotels where this change will apply starting in 2026:
- Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
- Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort
- Disney’s Port Orleans Resort—French Quarter
- Disney’s Port Orleans Resort—Riverside
If you’re looking to stay at one of these hotels in 2026 and beyond, make sure you keep these room category changes in mind so you know what you’re booking! Luckily, Disney lists the details and amenities of each room type so you won’t go in without an idea.
We’ll be on the lookout for the latest updates from Disney World. In the meantime, stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more Disney news!

Hi we stayed at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort—French Quarter and we loved very much. The vibes around the places were amazing !! We will go again someday
I was literally setting up my booking for Coronado Springs for June 2026 yesterday and there were some room name confusion in regards to the village rooms. There was preferred room and preferred location room. I talked with a cast member and the preferred rooms are located in the Casitas village rooms in buildings 1, 2, and 3. The preferred location rooms are closer to El Centro. So I guess from this conversation preferred location rooms are still in those same buildings but closer to El Centro as possible? I hope this information is helpful.
Have stayed at both moderate and value hotels. I am reluctant to say that difference between in price between the two continues to increase, making the case for the value resorts favorable. Will consider moderate only when a good deal is presented- otherwise the value resorts offer a great small family or couple option in a Disney world trip ( especially for extended vacations
Does this mean I can no longer select river view at Port Orleans? That sucks.
I’m surprised that the “5th Sleeper” category of rooms isn’t included in the list. Was that in error?
Wow this is crazy I was looking to book a trip for next February and I went on yesterday and all the room categories were blanked out except for Standard and Preferred. Another STUPID thing Disney is doing, No more picking pool views or riverviews or garden rooms. This another terrible idea, I done with this crap. Disney is destroying the company. No more ROA , no more Muppets,
We have stayed at all the moderates except Coronado, which is a big favorite among many people I know. My favorite (since the Fort Wilderness Cabins went DVC) is Port Orleans Riverside, especially the Royal Guest rooms. The parking never let us down, Boatwrights has never let us down, and River Roost is great (especially when Yehaa Bob is there!). I kinda wish we hadn’t gotten so spoiled on cabin life because POR really is the total package for us at a great price. Maybe if we ever go on a quick trip again, or maybe for that bucket list solo trip I dream of. Thanks for the updates DFB!
Only 3 categories starting next year? After choosing a category, can you request a room under that category? Ex, you book a room in the standard category, can request a river view? Or are you just assigned a random room in that category?
Wow, another reason to go to EPIC Universe and their new EPIC hotels instead of Disney next year! What is the point of this other than to further limit paying customers? They’re taking away too much. Every week seems like a new hotel or park or policy change with Disney, it’s getting old.
