Well, there is one trend currently gaining popularity online that we don’t want you to follow!

A Minecraft Movie is currently in the theaters, and movie-goers are turning it into, well, a madhouse.

According to viral videos online, some Minecraft Movie viewers have been throwing drinks and popcorn and trashing the auditorium during the movie. 

Some theaters have added extra precautions like preshow warnings, and a movie theater in New Jersey even had to require a responsible adult or parent to accompany minors, despite the film being rated PG. Even the official @IMAX X (formerly Twitter) account posted a reaction to the “chicken jockey” trend.

The chaos in the theaters is caused by one scene in particular: a baby zombie falls on the back of a chicken, creating a “chicken jockey.” This is a rare occurrence in the game and causes fans to go wild with excitement.

For those of us who aren’t Minecraft experts, the Hollywood Reporter described this scene similarly to when Captain America successfully caught Thor’s hammer in Avengers: Endgame.

The director of the movie, Jared Hess, also commented on the trend. He said, “It’s weird when you’re having too much fun and the cops get called. It’s funny because I think it’s just literally cheering and throwing popcorn, which is so funny to me that cops are getting called for popcorn. Yeah, it’s hilarious. I’ve seen so many funny videos,” according to Entertainment Weekly. He added, “It’s great, especially when people are climbing on their friends’ shoulders and standing up and cheering for those moments. It’s like this crazy anticipation. But, man, I’m just glad people are making memories with their friends and families.”

The film has been doing incredibly well at the box office, with $185 million domestically and $380 million globally in one week.

Recently, guests have been taking their movie experiences to the next level and causing more warnings before movies. AMC Theaters had to issue a statement stating not to sing during Wicked and noted that “silence is golden.”

When Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour was in theaters, people turned it into full concert experiences, trading bracelets, singing, saying the fan-favorite chants, and bringing glowsticks and light-up wands.
