How do you get to Disney World? For most folks, when it comes time to plan that Disney World trip, traveling to Orlando usually involves flying.
Now, flying is usually a pretty easy experience, especially if you can get a nonstop flight to Orlando International Airport. Yet, sometimes, flying can be unpredictable, and delays and cancelations do happen. Bad weather pretty much anywhere in the U.S. can delay flights at Orlando International Airport, too, and today, we’re seeing over 450 flights report delays at that airport.
According to FlightAware, there are a total of 504 flights currently delayed at Orlando International Airport, as well as 15 cancelations. These delays seem to be happening across multiple airlines, with Spirit being the most affected by delays, followed by Delta and Frontier.
These delays are due to the bad weather that’s been sweeping across the country, including severe weather that has even caused tornadoes. According to WESH, the Orlando area could see some strong storms today, too, which could further impact flights. Several counties in Florida are already under a tornado watch. Also, Central Florida is under a wind advisory due to gusty winds outside the storms.
If you are flying today, you’ll want to make sure you keep an eye on weather for both your destination and the airport you’re flying out of. You’ll also want to have a way for your airline to notify you of any changes to your flights, so download your airline’s app and set up notifications as well as text messages. You can also download the Orlando International Airport app to stay updated on delays and cancelations.
As today’s severe weather continues in the Southeast, expect the number of flight delays to continue increasing. So pack your patience, grab a good book, download that show or movie you’ve been meaning to watch, and prepare for delays.
