Listen. LISTEN. You GOTTA hear me out with this one.

PeopleMover
I know PeopleMover isn’t the most EXCITING Magic Kingdom ride out there (especially when you consider it’s in the same land as coasters like TRON and Space Mountain). But I LOVE PEOPLEMOVER, Y’ALL. I love it with EVERY fiber of my being. It’s just a nice, easy-going train ride above Tomorrowland that you rarely EVER have to wait in a long line. (I am not saying you NEVER have to wait a long time for it, but — on average — it can easily be a 5-10 minute wait, tops.)
Why am I talking about the PeopleMover right now? It’s simple. This ride deserves more love! Sure, the PeopleMover is not going ANYWHERE at the moment (Thank GOODNESS), but…I wanna make this a TOP ride at Disney World for 2025 just to KEEP it that way. Ever since the news about the Muppets Courtyard and DinoLand U.S.A., I’ve been a little nervous that my beloved PeopleMover would wind up on the chopping block. And we simply can’t have that!

View from the PeopleMover
Once you’re on the ride, you can kick up your feet and rest a bit while going in and out of tunnels that take you on a relaxing little tour above and through various Tomorrowland attractions. If you’re lucky, you might even catch some Magic Kingdom fireworks during your ride!

Board the “highway in the sky”
Listen, y’all. The PeopleMover has been a part of Magic Kingdom since 1975. But if we learned ANYTHING in 2024, it’s that NOTHING is safe from being reimagined in Disney World. Absolutely NOTHING. (Lookin’ at you, Country Bears…)

Country Bear Musical Jamboree
So, this is my request to you — from the president of the PeopleMover fan club. Ride this ride. Enjoy it. Post about HOW much you enjoy it. Show Disney that THIS ride doesn’t deserve the same treatment that it received over in Disneyland back in the day (which is…a whole different story I’m not gonna get into, but….let’s just say Disneyland’s PeopleMover did NOT survive its major renovations from way back when).

Don’t change, PeopleMover!

My family loves the WED way people mover (the original name). What we didn’t like last time we were there Christmas week 2024 was that the flat escalator wasn’t working. I have some mobility issues, and I had to climb this motionless rubber ramp. After the ride, the downward flat escalator wasn’t working either. Climbing down it (for me) was somewhat dangerous. I sent Disney a well worded suggestion. Putting in a permanent ramp that isn’t steep going up to the attraction would make the ride more accessible for me when the moving ramp isn’t working and people in wheelchairs (that can transfer) will have access. They thanked me for my suggestion, let’s see if they do anything.
The People Mover is the BEST!!!! My sisters and I have t-shirts and we always ride this ride at least 3 to 4 times!! One year we rode it 6 times in a row…. I’m not ashamed of that! Go and ride this iconic Disney ride!!
I thought I was the president of the PeopleMover fan club! All the way back to the 1970s it was my family’s first ride when entering the park so we could see how long the Space Mountain line was inside. Let’s hope they never touch it, although mechanically it seems to be a struggle in recent years and the aesthetics in some areas could be cleaned and touched up a bit. What needs to go is the Speedway. It completely conflicts with Tomorrowland and both the sounds and smells are annoying. If the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island can go, then the Speedway can be replaced without any heartache.
It’s still the WEDway to me! Can we not give a nod to Walter Elias?
The People Mover is brilliant because:-
1/ There is rarely a queue.
2/ Great views over the park.
3/ Some of it is indoors with A/C
4/It is just fast enough to cause a breeze in the outside area.
5/You can sit down.
6/As a ride, it’s quite long so you can make use of all the above for a good few minutes.
7/Children and adults can ride together.
8/Its great for a bit of time out.
9/Its a must if Space Mountain goes down and the lights come on. It’s so interesting to see the framework of this coaster.
10/Its iconic. “Calling Mr Morrow, Mr Tom Morrow.
The People Mover is a “must ride” for EVERY VISIT to the Magic Kingdom! So iconic and it’s the perfect attraction for the entire family to enjoy together!
The People Mover is a life saver! We love it, and when we go to Walt Disney World every 2 years, it is a must! Since they took it out at Disneyland, we ALWAYS MAKE SURE WE GO ON THE PEOPLE MOVER! We wish Disney would bring it back to Disneyland! They made a BIG MISTAKE when they took it out at Disneyland.
I agree Todd…in fact they could put Carsland where the speedway is now and leave Frontierland alone!
The People Mover is my all time favorite ride at Disney World! I get that they need to keep the parks fresh and current, but there is a lot to be said for nostalgia too! I don’t think I could handle People Mover closing. I accept your challenge, AJ, and will ride as many times as possible during my 2 trips this year!
It is our absolute favorite! Not boring, very entertaining and a nice way to chill out for a moment.
No way should it ever be changed and definitely NOT removed!
People Mover is my absolute favorite at Magic Kingdom! Always rude it several times when visiting!
They should expand the people mover so it covers more of the park. My favorite way to take a break.
If there’s a ride that I’d be willing to ride non-stop for an entire day without getting off, the WedWay PeopleMover might be the winner just as long as a Cast Member could hand-off some F&B needs throughout the day!
We agree – our family loves ThePeople mover!
It’s a great ride for all the reasons listed in others remarks.
My husband is not a huge fan of Space Mountain and always took our youngest on People Mover while we rode Space Mountain but I love it too so we always rode several times.
My son’s are adults now and if they can’t go along on our frequent Disney trips we always ride it and think of them and I call or text them “ paging Mr Morrow- Tom Morrow. A Disney classic
People mover has always been a favorite; but like a previous writer, there is no way I can handle the moving belt I have to go down stairs backward and hold on to railings on both sides, leaving my walker behind. (Surely the CM’s have an elevator to get up there). At the top, I cannot walk across a moving floor to get to the cars. Two other “moving floor” attractions will stop so I can get into the cars.
Yes yes yes! Always a must do when i go, especially at night!
We love the Web way people mover!!!
It is a must ride on every trip. Never never change or close that ride!
It is the BEST!!
The best ride! Gotta go on it every visit to the Magic Kingdom!
We love the Peoplemover!! We ride it multiple times every visit.
Love it so much, I bought a people mover hat. Get rid of the speedway. Do something with that empty building where that stich thing used to be. And if you want to even touch the people mover it should be to extend it over, into the tron area. And why you’re at it, maybe we could theme the train tunnel at little to match the tomorrow land theme.
I live close by and I am at Disney a lot. I have been going since it opened. People Mover is the best ride, but lately it breaks down a lot. Sometimes for 5- 10 minutes or more. I was stuck in the dark cave for about 20 minutes last year. When it breaks down the cast members laugh when I say I have dubbed it the People Stopper! What I have never seen before was last week when the belts stopped working. The cast member had to yell at the people who stopped bewildered as to what to do. She laughed and said just walk up, you have no where else to go! I told her the People Stopper strikes again and we laughed. I worry that it breaks down because Disney doesn’t care about this ride enough to maintain it. Rather than repair it to run smoothly they may decide to tear it down. It would be a sad day if they did. I agree with everyone who said the speedway needs to close. They could put the Cars ride there. Cars for Cars. Leave the Tom Sawyer Island and Riverboat alone!
AJ, it’s time for a peoplemover Tshirt! DFB should really considea doing one as I’m sure we Peoplemover fans would love to buy one!
