Well, believe it or not, we’re almost through the whole first month of January — yes, it has felt like a WHOLE year has passed in that month, but February will be here soon.
That means we’ll soon be talking about Valentine’s Day treats in Disney World (WE ARE READY FOR ALL THE RED AND PINK CUPCAKES), still mourning the loss of DinoLand, U.S.A. as it has now already partially closed (and riding Dinosaur every chance we get), and wondering if Disney is EVER going to drop an opening timeline for the new Villains land in Magic Kingdom and Monsters, Inc. land in Hollywood Studios. However, if you’re going to be visiting Disney World in February, you might inadvertently make some mistakes.
So here are the mistakes you might want to avoid making in Disney World in February
Visiting during Cheer Competition Weekends
February is PRIME cheerleading competition season and two big competitions are coming to Orlando in February. The All Out Grand Nationals will be held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando from January 31st through February 2nd. Although the competition is NOT happening at Disney World, participants are able to get discounted tickets for Disney World, so you’re likely to see them in the parks. There will be a LOT of them!
That’s not the ONLY cheer competition in February, though. The UCA National High School Cheerleading Competition will be at Disney World’s ESPN Wide World of Sports on February 7th through 10th. As this competition happens at Disney World, you’re likely to see a ton of cheerleaders and their families at your Disney World hotel that weekend, generally at the All-Star Resorts, so things could be noisy and crowded at your hotel that weekend.

Visiting During Valentine’s Day Weekend
It might seem romantic and fun to visit Disney World during Valentine’s Day Weekend (February 15th through 17th), but things could be VERY busy that weekend because it’s also a holiday weekend, President’s Weekend. You know what a three-day weekend means in Disney World, right? CROWDS.
We generally see an uptick in crowds during that weekend because kids are out of school and people are off work on that Monday — everyone thinks a long weekend in Disney World is a good idea. Granted, if you do visit during this time, you need to prepare for the crowds and keep your expectations reasonable.
Why We’re Avoiding EPCOT on February 23rd
Forgetting about a new perk
In 2025, Disney World is giving a new perk to visitors who are staying at Disney World hotels during their Disney World vacations. You can now get a FREE ticket to one of Disney World’s water parks, Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach (depending on which one is open at the time) for you and your party. However, it’s winter, and a lot of folks might not even be thinking of that perk.
However, it can still get warm enough to visit a water park in February, so you’ll want to make sure you’ve packed your swimgear and other items for the water parks to where you can quickly get to them on your arrival day (especially if your hotel room isn’t ready yet). It’s free, so you might as well take advantage of it, right?
Did Disney World Fix This MAJOR Problem with Its New Hotel Perk?
If you’re visiting Disney World in February, though, you’re still in a good time regardless. Just make sure you’re informed on what you might come across and you’ll have a great time!
