The most expensive mistake I made that I can remember was thinking we could get buses to our resort from the TTC. We wound up in taxi cabs. It wasn’t that bad, but it was an unexpected cost and I was thoroughly embarrassed. Another time, we were travelling with older friends who insisted on driving to show their appreciation for the planning and costs we had covered for them (plus they were the larger group). Well, their college-aged daughter became so love sick missing her boyfriend ?that after the third day, she wouldn’t go to the parks anymore. They stayed one more day (with the daughter back at the hotel), and then left with two more days of our trip to go. We had to rent a car to get home. But – at least on that occasion (10 years ago), we found that Alamo had really reasonable one-way rates from the on-site Car Care Center (like $10/day). So I would add to the list of potential hidden expenses, KNOW how you are getting back home, and if there’s any chance that could fall through, have a back up plan (and the funds to cover it).
