Over the years, we’ve seen Disney’s online systems have various technical issues.
From app and website glitches to problems with things like Genie+, people often get frustrated with Disney’s technology. Unfortunately, now Disney is on the receiving end of some major tech issues.
The Wall Street Journal reports that “Data from Disney’s internal Slack workplace collaboration system have been leaked online, including discussions about ad campaigns, studio technology and interview candidates.” The Slack communications that were released online include data from back to 2019.
An anonymous hacking company called Nullbulge claimed responsibility for the release of this data in a blog post online, but those claims could not be immediately verified. Nullbulge said that it published data from thousands of Slack channels, including computer code and details for future, unreleased projects.
A spokesman from Disney said that the company is currently investigating this matter. Nullbulge identifies itself as a “hacktivist” group and says that it targeted Disney “due to how it handles artist contracts, its approach to AI, and it’s [sic] pretty blatant disregard for the consumer.” Nullbulge first claimed to have Disney’s computer data back in May.
We’ll be interested to see the results of the investigation and we’ll be looking out for a response from Disney. The company has received some criticism in recent months and years for its utilization of AI and its treatment of consumers.
The Wall Street Journal has viewed some of the files that were leaked, and says that they include “conversations about maintaining Disney’s corporate website, software development, assessments of candidates for employment, programs for emerging leaders within ESPN and photos of employees’ dogs, with data stretching back to at least 2019.”
We’ll make sure to keep an eye on this situation and notify you of any developments, so stay tuned to DFB for the latest news and updates. We’ve got you covered with all the Disney news that you need to know!
