Disney Cruise Line is planning some big additions in the future!
Later this year, we’ll get the opening of Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, as well as the first sailing of the Disney Treasure. But in 2025, a brand-new ship is setting sail — the Disney Destiny! Disney shared some sneak peeks at what we can expect from this boat, and we’re digging through the clues.
When Disney announced the Disney Destiny, they shared a promotional video on YouTube featuring Captain Minnie and some of the characters that will be on the boat. The ship is set to have a heroes and villains theme and will include nods to Hercules, 101 Dalmatians, and The Lion King.
But also in the promotional video, Disney shared a photo of a hallway with different character decorations on various doors. These seem to be hints as to what will be included on the ship. In the photo, we can see symbols for Haunted Mansion, Black Panther, Spider-Man, Edna Mode, and what looks to be Pirates of the Caribbean.
The upcoming Disney Treasure will include a Haunted Mansion-themed lounge, so it’s possible that it will be copied onto the Disney Destiny. The Marvel characters could be a nod to another Marvel restaurant, like the one currently on the Disney Wish. And it’s possible that Edna Mode is a reference to the Hero Zone, which is an Incredibles-themed obstacle course on the Disney Wish. But what about the pirates?
Well, it’s possible that the pirate symbol is just a nod to “Pirate Night,” which is an activity that takes place on every Disney Cruise Line ship. But at this point, it seems a given that Pirate Night will be included with a new ship, so why would they put that in the teaser?
Our hopeful theory instead is that there will be a new pirate or Pirates of the Caribbean-themed offering onboard the Disney Destiny. A new lounge or restaurant themed to those swashbuckling scalawags would be so much fun! And with a new pirate-themed lounge coming to Magic Kingdom in the future, it seems like something they could replicate onboard a boat.
We’ll be on the lookout for any more details about what this pirate-themed offering could be! We can’t wait to get more information on the Disney Destiny before it sets sail in 2025.
