We’re sailing on the Disney Dream this week for a Very Merrytime Cruise on Disney Cruise Line.
We’ve already given you a tour of Disney Cruise Line’s new port which we sailed out of, shown you photos from a brand new holiday show (with SNOAP!), and even shared Mickey and Minnie’s new holiday looks for the occasion! Well, now, we’re about to do what we do best — EAT. We’re heading to Vanellope’s Sweets and Treats Shop to try out some very merry new snacks.
We’ve got a word of warning to share with you, though: these treats are VERY sweet, so please don’t tell our dentist. But once you see them, you’ll want to book a Very Merrytime Cruise ASAP — and honestly, we wouldn’t blame you. Vanellope’s Sweets and Treats is all about, well, sweets and treats. Just look at this, y’all. Um…ONE OF EVERYTHING!
Okay, so maybe one of everything isn’t doable (at least right now, but we’ll be back), so we’re focusing on the holiday-themed treats. The Mickey Christmas Shortbread Cookies with Frosting and Dulce de Leche Filling for $5.50 are SO adorable…but also BIG, so this is a great value. It’s actually a cookie sandwich, so you’ve got frosting and dulce de leche in the middle. Yep, we’re sold.
The cookies are thick and crumbly, like all good shortbread, and they tasted buttery and sweet. We’ll just say they’re perfect, which is hard to find in a shortbread. The sweet frosting was whipped and fluffy, which worked great with the firmer cookies. However, we didn’t notice a lot of the Dulce de Leche filling in it and we would’ve liked more. If you’re a frosted sugar cookie fan, you need this in your life.
The Merry Time Popsicle for $5.50 is basically a Red Velvet Chocolate Fudge Cakepop. Okay, YES, please! Inside is a regular chocolate/red velvet cake pop that’s soft and smooth. It isn’t super dense, but still VERY rich. The outside chocolate is super sweet, so that made it hard to eat it all in one sitting. Overall, it’s a pretty heavy dessert and you might want to share.
The Mickey ornament on it (is that not the CUTEST?) is a surprisingly soft and tasty milk chocolate — we kinda’ wanted more of these on there. The snowflake, though, was fondant, and well, that’s not our FAVORITE thing to eat, but it looks good, right?
Okay, the most OVER-THE-TOP thing we got was this Kris Kringle Christmas Tree for $6.50 — there’s a LOT going on there. The tree is sitting on a brownie, by the way. However, the tree itself is really just a regular Rice Krispie treat (and no, we’re not complaining — it was soft and FULL of marshmallow flavor). The decorations are fondant and hard sugar candy, along with sprinkles.
The bottom is a brownie covered in a red layer of fondant that was really hard and just sugary (again, we’re not fondant fans). The brownie was cakey, and we know some people like their brownies that way. But we prefer fudgey brownies, so this seemed dry (not like SUPER dry, but dry like a cake and not moist like fudge — yes, this is us being picky).
Are you hungry yet? We told you this might want you to book a Disney Cruise! Stay tuned to DFB for more!
