Hello Friends, We Have To Warn You — This Disneyland News Might Make You SAD

We’re used to constant changes at the Disney Parks, but even by our standards, this one could be considered a bombshell.

Over at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, tradition is sort of an underlying theme. As Walt Disney’s original park, there is an extra sense of sentimentality at Disneyland. For the locals, expansion is typically accepted while removal and replacement are frowned upon. Still, change does happen, and this latest Disneyland change could upset some Disney purists.

Bill Rogers and Camille Dixon have been the voices behind the announcements at the Disneyland Resort parks for years. The husband-and-wife team has been a familiar pair of voices for resort visitors, with Rogers making announcements at Disneyland for the last 32 years while Dixon has been the voice over at Disney California Adventure for the last 11. With that said, their tenure as the voices of the Disneyland Resort is coming to an end.

The Orange County Register reported that the couple’s contracts were not extended and that no new park announcements would be recorded by either Rogers or Dixon. Disneyland officials thanked the couple and stated that they intend to evaluate all voice talent contract renewals, indicating more change could happen in the future.

Rogers replaced the original voice of Disneyland, Jack Wagner, in 1991 and Dixon became the official voice of Disney California Adventure in 2012 in conjunction with the opening of Cars Land and Buena Vista Street.

Dixon had been doing occasional California Adventure announcements since it opened in 2001. Announcements at the parks include opening and closing lines, parade announcements, firework cancelations, and the more recent gender-inclusive “Hello friends,” line at Disneyland, which replaced, “Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls” in 2021. Rogers and Dixon also did live announcements on occasion during movie premiers and holiday events.

Disney’s California Adventure

Disneyland officials have not announced when a complete voicing change will occur, so Disneyland Resort visitors should still be able to hear some of the old recordings for the time being.
