For many of us, Starbucks is a way of life.
We can’t start our morning (or Disney World day) without our Starbucks drink, and we even have collections of Starbucks tumblers and ornaments. Well, as we know, price increases happen EVERYWHERE, including at Starbucks, and now some Starbucks drinks are going to cost extra.
According to Business Insider, Starbucks is now charging customers for a very specific customization on its Refresher drinks. Customers who order Refreshers with NO water will now be charged an extra $1 for their drink.
Refreshers are generally made with green tea and fruit juice but also contain some water. Customers will often ask for no water in their drinks for a stronger flavor. That’s now going to cost more because this customization requires more Refresher base, so the extra $1 accounts for that extra bit of product.
A Starbucks spokesperson said, “This change allows us to provide a more consistent approach to customization, similar to other beverage customizations such as adding an espresso shot or syrup, which incur an additional charge.”
The change has already gone into effect, so if you like your Starbucks refresher drink with no water, you’ll need to be prepared to pay a little extra for it.
Starbucks recently released two new cold drinks: the Chocolate Java Mint Frappucino and the White Chocolate Macadamia Cold Brew — we recently tried out both drinks so be sure to read our reviews here.
