FIRST LOOK at Disney's 100th Anniversary Oswald the Lucky Rabbit Collection

Mickey Mouse may be the face of Disney, but he wasn’t Walt’s first character creation!

Many Disney history fans are aware that before the existence of Mickey, Walt created an equally adorable character: a rabbit named Oswald. Now, ahead of the Walt Disney Company’s 100th Anniversary, Disney is partnering with designer brand Givenchy to highlight this oft-forgotten character.

Disney debuted a brand-new short featuring Oswald for the company’s 100th, and they are continuing the celebration with this Givenchy clothing line. This collab is also celebrating the Lunar New Year, which falls on January 22nd in 2023. It just so happens that next year is the Year of the Rabbit. It feels like the stars have aligned to make this perfect collaboration possible! Oswald must really be a lucky rabbit. ?

This new capsule collection will be paired with the mixed reality short produced by the Walt Disney Animation Studios in collaboration with Julian Klincewicz, famed art director and photographer. The cast for the short includes Madelaine Petsch of Riverdale fame as well as Amber Liu and Alton Mason. Disney revealed the short will take place at locales across the world, including Los Angeles, Tokyo, and Paris. Oswald sure is coming back with a bang!

The clothing line is being advertised as “essential pieces,” including oversized shirts, varsity jackets, and other sporty items that take inspiration from the various stops from Oswald’s world tour from the short film. Oswald the Lucky Rabbit will be featured in the designs alongside the classic Givenchy logo, while one piece will even feature his lady love, Ortensia! You can also get matching accessories, like tennis shoes, totes, phone cases, and more. As you might expect from a designer collection, these pieces don’t come cheap — prices in the collection range from $255 to $5,690. ?

If you want to join in on the fun but don’t quite have a Givenchy budget, check out their Oswald Sky Painter AR lens on Snapchat! This cool lens will let you paint the sky and add stencils and passport stamps across 5 cities from Oswald’s journey. This lens premiers on December 15th, 2022.

The capsule collection will be available starting December 26th across various pop-up shops around the world, including Singapore, Tokyo, and Miami. Starting on December 30th, you can shop the collection online as well.
