Traveling to Disney World isn’t always the most magical experience.
Whether you’re flying, taking a train, or heading out on a road trip, certain mishaps can pop up that might make it just a little bit harder to start your vacation off on the right foot. And, if you fly into Orlando International Airport (MCO) on your Disney World trips, you might know just how many things can go wrong — especially the weather. It looks like today is one of those days because a ground stop has been issued for Orlando International Airport.
Florida’s weather can be unpredictable, and we’ve seen that firsthand with the occasional hurricane and sudden afternoon thunderstorms in Disney World. But today, the storms are affecting more than just the parks, as a ground stop has been issued for Orlando International Airport (MCO).
A 'Ground Stop' has been issued for @MCO due to storms in the area- holding some flights from heading our way. This will of course impact inbound and then outbound flights. We will be watching things closely and updating you as we get information…

The ground stop is expected to last until 4:45PM ET, but could be extended if the thunderstorms continue. We’re also seeing quite a bit of rain in Disney World right now, so this isn’t too surprising.

MCO just recently opened a brand new Terminal C, home to new airline partnerships, state-of-the-art security, and exciting dining options. We’ve taken a look around the new Terminal, and you can see more here.
We’ll keep an eye on this situation and let you know if anything changes.
