Florida is still recovering from the recent Hurricane Ian, which shut down the Disney World and Universal Orlando theme parks and brought a lot of damage to parts of the state.
The state is working to bring aid and relief to those areas that need it most, and as recovery continues, some things that changed during the storm are going back to normal. Now, one major change is returning to normal, and it will affect anyone who is driving in Central Florida.
When it became clear that Hurricane Ian was going to be a major threat to Florida, road tolls were suspended so that people could evacuate more quickly and supplies could be transported more easily. Now, those tolls are returning to all Central Florida expressways.
According to ClickOrlando, the tolls — which were suspended on September 27th — were reinstated starting at 6AM on Saturday, October 15th. Here are the roads that now have tolls reinstated:
- Apopka Expressway
- Beachline Expressway (State Road 528)
- Central Florida GreeneWay and Seminole Expressway (State Road 417)
- Goldenrod Extension
- I-4 Express
- Osceola Parkway
- Poinciana Parkway
- Southern Connector Extension
- State Road 453
- Wekiva Parkway
- Western Beltway
- Florida’s Turnpike north of mile marker 249, south of State Road 417
Some of these roads — such as the I-4 Express and Osceola Parkway — are located near Disney World and may be part of your route to the theme parks. Be prepared to pay a toll if you’re traveling by car to the parks.
Tolls are still suspended in some parts of Florida, such as on Alligator Alley, Sunshine Skyway, and Pinellas Bayway.
We’ll keep watching for more updates that could affect your trip to Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for the latest news.
