We’re really enjoying the 2022 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts so far, and there has been so much to see, do, and eat since its kickoff last week!
We’ve been to every festival food booth and tried dozens of eats and drinks, watched the awesome entertainment, and admired some truly beautiful artwork. If you’ve been before, you know that one of the highlights of the festival is the stunning chalk drawings…but what happens when it rains? Well, this weekend we got to see for ourselves.
It may seem obvious — when it gets wet, chalk tends to wash away. This weekend, EPCOT got its fair share of rainy weather, and we stopped by some of the artwork to see how it was doing.
For the most part, the drawings withstood the storms pretty well! Only the edges started to wash off and smudge, but you can still make out the picture despite some fading. We were honestly expecting it to be a lot runnier than this.
UPDATE: By Monday, January 17th, the piece was looking a little more worn out, but you could still admire the parts that remained!
Of course, these drawings can’t last forever. Every few days, Disney will clear out the old ones and artists will come in to make new creations in their place. We’re excited to see what Disney scenes and photo ops come next!
We’ll keep checking out the festival throughout its run here at EPCOT, so stay tuned to DFB for the latest. We’ve got you covered with all the Disney World food news.
