To ensure we are equipping our readers with all the information they need, we will continue to report on all travel, safety, and COVID-related news that could impact a Disney Parks visit.
The global pandemic continues to impact the travel industry around the world.
There have been travel bans for certain countries and warnings not to travel to others, as well as thousands of flights being canceled due to the rise of the Omicron variant of COVID-19. But recently, France has relaxed its travel restrictions for one country it had previously banned all but essential travel from.
France has relaxed its travel ban on arrivals from the United Kingdom, according to CNN. France had previously banned all but essential travel from the U.K. on December 18th in an attempt to slow the spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19, according to the BBC.
The ban was put into place when Omicron was greatly impacting the U.K., but not all of Europe, according to CNN. With the variant now spread throughout the continent, France’s tourism minister Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne said in a tweet on January 13th that the “compelling reason for travel” requirement would be removed on the 14th of January.
Previously, people coming from the U.K. with a compelling reason for travel had to quarantine for 48 hours in France, but that requirement has also been removed. Now, the U.K. is classed alongside other non-European Union countries when it comes to regulations. These regulations include that visitors must be fully vaccinated and must present a negative COVID-19 test taken within 24 hours before departure, according to CNN.
You are allowed to enter the country if you’re not vaccinated, but you have to have a compelling reason for entering the country, have to register on France’s digital platform before departure, and you have to complete a strict quarantine period of 10 days once in the country.
The travel ban lift has also been noted on Disneyland Paris’ website. A statement on the site says in part, “We are pleased to share that leisure travel between the United Kingdom and France has now resumed.” It then goes on to talk about the current health and safety requirements.
Stay tuned to DFB for more COVID-19 news and updates as it related to the travel and tourism industries.
