Disney recently announced a new system to take the place of FastPass+ in Disney World.
Disney Genie+ will take over as the new way to skip many of the standby lines for certain attractions. It’s part of the new Disney Genie program coming to My Disney Experience that will help plan your days in the parks! While Genie (the planning service) is free, Genie+ (the paid FastPass replacement service) is not — Genie+ will cost $15 per day, per ticket. The Genie+ system will let you enter through the new Lightning Lanes (the new name for the old FastPass+ lanes) at select attractions. While we don’t know exactly when the system will go into effect, some new additions in Magic Kingdom are making us think it might be soon!
We spotted new Lightning Lane signs in Magic Kingdom!!
The first one we found was over at Tomorrowland Speedway in Tomorrowland!
It’s located right next to the stand-by entrance.
A Cast Member was standing at the new entrance, presumably to keep people from entering through the Lightning Lane, since it isn’t open yet!
The next Lightning Lane we saw was over at “it’s a small world” in Fantasyland!
This one is not located directly next to the stand-by entrance, it’s a little further over to the left, which is where the previous FastPass+ lane was!
Cast Members were also hanging out here to make sure no one entered the ride through the Lightning Lane.
We wonder when we’ll be able to use these lanes!
We also saw a new Lightning Lane sign over at Jungle Cruise in Adventureland!
Just another new addition to a ride that’s had some major renovations lately!
The new sign fits the theming perfectly!
Once Genie+ does officially launch, starting at 7AM each morning you will be able to choose a return time to visit a ride and use that ride’s Lightning Lane entrance. When your reservation slot time arrives, you will then go through the Lightning Lane! There will be over 40 rides included in Genie+ in Disney World. There will also be select, extremely popular rides with Lightning Lanes that you will need to pay for individually. These high-demand rides will not be included in the Genie+ system. You can learn more about purchasing access to the Lightning Lanes for these high-demand rides here. We’re sure to see more of these signs go up soon, so stay tuned to DFB for updates!

Why are you ending every sentence with an exclamation point? It’s like you’re excited they’re price gouging us by forcing us to now pay for fast passes which were previously free. I just don’t get it.
Welcome to money pit USA!
Our motto; give less, pay more.
Take away every perk you enjoyed and now charge for it.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Are any ride free?
Do the standby lines have a virtual que with the time you need to return.
Very disturbed by Disney’s money grab. They keep looking for sources of revenue but do not seem to maintain the magic that was there 10 years or more ago. This Genie + is just another step in degrading the magic associated with WDW along with eliminating the magical express which was such a nice perk that we used all of the time.
Celia, the Standby lines are expected to be just as they are now — you enter, and you wait. Posted wait times should remain as well.
Celia, Genie+ and Individual Attraction Selections are in addition to the regular Standby lines, which are going to remain available for no additional cost.
Very complicated now.
