It’s true, there is no shortage of great places to eat in Disney and the surrounding Orlando area. While not every place is a hit, you are bound to find some amazing meals on your trip.
One fun thing about the area is that you can try tastes from different parts of the country and the world, and you never know what your favorite thing is going to be.
Well if you’re visiting Florida later on in 2021, or in 2022, you might just have to grab yourself some Texas chicken.
Just announced this week on bizjournals.com, the Dallas-based restaurant chain is getting franchised in Florida, and aiming to open four restaurants in the Orlando area over the next two years. Franchise owners, Florida Fine Foods, are aiming for the first site to be open in August or September of this year.
Cowboy Chicken is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, and, no shockers here, they pride themselves on their chicken. Their signature is a slow-roasted rotisserie, cooked over local wood. While the bulk of their menu is chicken (drumsticks, pieces of choice, chicken sandwiches, or even just a whole chicken) with traditional southern sides like potatoes, mac ‘n’ cheese, and fried okra. They also have some unexpected items such as enchiladas and bowls.
Cowboy Chicken currently has franchises in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Georgia, and while the menus vary by location, we will be very curious to see what ends up on the menu here in Florida! It’s fun to have something new opening up, and while Cowboy Chicken is a Texas franchise, the food seems pretty in line with traditional southern comfort food. Lots of new restaurants from around the US are making their way to Orlando including Portillo’s and White Castle. We may just find ourselves heading off Disney property a bit more for some new eats.
We’ll be sure to keep you posted on anything else we hear as the franchise developed, as well as any other Orlando food and restaurant news!
In the meantime, if you’re looking for some good chicken in Disney, we’ve got you covered!
