When Disney World reopened last year, not all of its hotels opened with it.

Now that’s a view!
Although some of those hotels have reopened since, others still remain closed, including Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Currently, the Disney Vacation Club’s Boulder Ridge Villas and Copper Creek Villas & Cabins are open, but the non-Disney Vacation Club rooms remain closed.
However, Wilderness Lodge will reopen on June 6th. And it looks like guests staying there are going to be in newly updated rooms! Instagram user @christina.kaitlin pointed out that the room photos on Disney’s website for Wilderness Lodge look a lot different than we’ve seen in the past!
Here’s what the old beds looked like — the headboards had details carved into them and the beds had maroon accents.

The rooms also had striped curtains and a colorful patterned carpet.

Carpet and curtains were busy…
Here’s what the TV cabinet looked like:

Now, though, the headboard is a LOT different, and the bedding is solid white — the maroon details are gone. The carpet is also gone, and now replaced with hardwood floors. The curtains are patterned, but have much lighter colors than previously. And the TV cabinet is gone, with the TV now attached to the wall, with a chest of drawers underneath.

The accents in the new rooms are still there, but they are a lot more subtle.

Many of the darker hues throughout the room have disappeared for lighter and brighter shades.

And it looks like some rooms even feature some details with the Country Bears!! Check out the portrait on the wall in this deluxe suite:

We spoke with a Cast Member that confirmed these rooms DID get a makeover while the resort was closed. So, keep that in mind if you plan on staying here after Wilderness Lodge reopens — these rooms look a lot different now! And if we spot any other updates, we’ll be sure to let you know.

What do you think of the new Wilderness Lodge rooms? Let us know in the comments!
The whole point of The WILDERNESS LODGE is the lodge feel. Our first stay was the first year it opened, our last stay was Jan 2020. And a few stays in between. The rustic look was why we loved it so much. If it is going to look like every other Disney Resort, why bother staying there again. I think last year was our last stay due to the decor change. Do others like or dislike the change? Just curious.
I like the new updates. The old rooms felt like a Motel 6 in the mountains, very cheap looking. New update have the rooms looking clean, fresh and inviting. You still have the lodge feel when you go to the lobby.
