Disney World’s theme parks will begin reopening July 11th.
Among other health measures, the reopening plan includes the use of a new guest reservations system for use in the theme parks. Disney shared a number of details about the Disney Park Pass theme park reservation system last week, and now the reservation system has officially rolled out online.
The Disney World website features some significant changes today when it comes to the way that guests plan their Disney trip. Next time you head to Disney, you’ll be visiting the Disney Park Pass page to make your theme park reservations. When we first logged in this morning, it appeared that the Disney website was experiencing some MAJOR technical difficulties — potentially due to high demand.
Though the system is LIVE, quite a few readers are still having a hard time accessing the new system. You will likely be greeted with a countdown Space Mountain loading screen (that will possibly never actually count down to zero!), so be prepared to potentially wait for a while.
Reservations are made for a specific date, time, and park. You are limited to one park reservation per day, so it seems that the Park hopper service will not be in use at this time. You can see on the availability calendar that it shows “All Parks Available,” “Some Parks Available,” or “No Parks Available” for each date.
When we did FINALLY get the new page to load (it took us a while and a lot of tries!), we were able to select “Make a Disney Park Pass Reservation” on the top right. We were prompted to log in to our My Disney Experience account (we were met with a much shorter wait to actually log in), then it was time to start making our reservations!
First, you’ll select your party from your list of Family & Friends. Make sure to make profiles for other members of your family before making a reservation! If someone in your party does NOT have a profile, you can add them as a guest.
Once you’ve got your party set up, you’ll be able to see a calendar for you to select your singular date.
Then, it’s on to the park selection page! As a note, if a park is unavailable for the day you are making your reservation, it will be greyed out on this screen.
What better park to start our days back in Disney than Magic Kingdom? The next screen had us selecting a window of time. The window was NOT limited though; at this time there was only one option and it was for the full park hours.
Then, you’re pretty much done. All you have to do is review your choices and confirm. As announced, confirmation requires agreement to the terms and conditions, including Disney’s COVID-19 liability waiver.
Once you confirm, you’re done!
From there, you’ll see a screen that explains how to use your reservation when you arrive at the parks. Make sure to bring your MagicBand or card that’s linked to your My Disney Experience account. Once you feel comfortable with the info, you can either “Make Another Park Pass” or exit to “View My Plans.”
If you choose to make additional Park Passes you’ll repeat the process above, including selecting the date, the park, agreeing to the waiver, and so on. Once we were IN the Park Pass system it was relatively smooth sailing, but it was a chore to get there! Hopefully as the initial rush dies down, this system will be easier to access.
As a reminder, there is a limit on reservations for Annual Passholders without a resort reservation and Passholders without a hotel reservation can’t access the system until June 26th. Note that while we were able to book with our Annual Passes for the length of our hotel stays, we’ve had a number of readers with resort stays AND Annual Passes report they were capped at three! If this happens we recommend you call Disney to get it sorted out.
Though the new system is relatively easy to navigate, it still might bring up some questions. If anything is confusing you, feel free to ask us and we’ll help if we can! If you find that you need direct help from Disney with your reservation, you can call Disney Website Support at (407) 939-4357. Keep in mind though, the lines may be busy so you might get stuck on hold for a while.
Remember that at this time, “To enter a park, both a park reservation and valid admission for the same park on the same date are required.” Annual Passholders without an already-booked Resort Hotel stay can make reservations beginning June 26th. Existing ticket holders can make reservations beginning June 28th.
It certainly will be interesting to see how the use of this new system plays out and if it goes off without a hitch once the parks reopen. Keep an eye on DFB for all the updates about the new reservations!

Do you think the new reservation system is confusing or easy to understand? Tell us in the comments!
Just a heads up. My family and I were supposed to be going together in October 2020. My husband and I purchased tickets earlier, before Disney shutdown, but my family did not. They now are not able to purchase tickets for October 2020, even though they have a hotel reservation. Incredibly disappointing. Disney will not sell them park tickets so we will be cancelling in 2020.
I was able to secure a pass for July 28 (yay!). While doing so, it presented the park hours of 9 am to 7 pm but also ticket event from 7:45 am. Do you know if the paid Early Morning Magic will really be offered that day? If so, can guests with tickets and passes for that day still secure that ticket? I believe Disney considers that to fall under dining.
Ok..I got my park passes! Do you know if fastpass+ will come back or is the park passes it now?
After lots of issues, when I was finally able to get on I was only able to book 1 day of the 3 day tickets i have. I have a hotel reservation as well…am I just going to have to cancel my whole trip?? I’m so sad
Been on hold for over two hour and then it just hungup on me!!
Tess, that must be so upsetting. I hope when the dust settles this morning, you’ll be able to sort it out.
I opened the Disney site incognito in a Chrome browser on my PC and it worked much better. The waiting room time was much shorter and once I got in the site was very user friendly. Hopefully that helps someone who is still having trouble! Thanks DFB for all the updates and information!
Hunter, FastPass is expected to come back in the future, but Disney hasn’t said when.
i still dont even know how to:( pls help
Justin, we’ve been seeing EMM at MK for several dates, but it isn’t purchase-able (that’s not a word) to our knowledge. We’ll keep watching that.
i dont even see any button to park reserve
Bonnie, Disney says they’ll restart 2020 ticket sales later this summer. One reader said she was told as soon as next week, those sales will restart. I hope it works out for you!
Article says parks open JUNE 11. Should say July.
Susan, thank you!
Pedro, on this page you’ll find a link.
Do you know if we are suppose to get a email confirmation Once our park reservations are booked?
Does anyone know how many people they are allowing into the park each day? We are scheduled to go late October. I am still waiting to get onto the website & select my dates.
I see that the reservation system is open until end September 2021-is anyone booking for stays through 2021 (e.g. May 2021) now?!
i’ve been waiting for 5 hours and still cant get in!!!!!
Has anyone seen a way to modify park passes? Maybe once the initial traffic dies down?
I have resort reservation and tickets for Aug 30 – Sept 4. Been trying since 7 am to get through. Still no luck getting in. Now seeing postings online saying no parks available for any of those days. Now what??? I must say there’s no way this plan was ever going to actually work. Disappointed.
I got into the reservation system without a problem. But once I selected our party and went to make reservations for the parks it tells me that every park is unavailable. We have a hotel reservation for April 2021 and our tickets already linked to the account. When I check the availability calendar it tells me that every park has availability for April 2021 so Im okay it’s just a glitch and we can book soon.
What do you think the chances are of getting tickets for September 2020? We have hotel reservations but didn’t buy tickets because we just weren’t sure what it was going to be like.
when it finally does move on from the space mountain waiting room page it just takes me to blank page!!! is anyone else on the struggle bus as hard as me right now?!?!?!
It sounds like today is the only time to book all the parks is that right ! If you are lucky to get all of some is that right .?
When I was finally able to start reserving park passes, I was only able to get park admission on 4 of my 6 days at the resort. I have Beach Club reservations on 9/1-9/6 . Couldn’t get a park pass for the last 2 days of our stay. I would like to think Disney should keep room in the parks for all resort guests for the duration of our stay. I’m trying to be as optimistic as can be that we will still go, but this is just one more box to check in the reasons to cancel list
I’ve been in queue for 2 hours and still nothing. I’m rather disappointed that Disney gave NO instructions on how to access the reservations. Thank goodness DFB had the info. Still waiting though…
What about those of us with paid airfare and off site hotel reservations (pre-COVID) that didn’t want to buy park tickets 10 moths in advance? We have vacations booked with no park tickets & slim to none chance of even getting into a park. Disney will lose a lot of business to Universal and other area attractions that are not requiring park reservations. I am already thinking my only Disney experience will be a dinner or 2 at Disney Springs. Thankfully I will still have a nice time doing other things, but it will be disappointing to not at least get to Galaxy’s Edge or to the Epcot food & wine. I only make the trip down to FL every few years or so. What are the chances of anyone other than AP or on-site hotel guests even getting into a park this Fall?
Is there a window of the people who can make reservations at this time? Ie. only people within the 60 day mark or something similar to that? Or is it really a free for all for anyone with tickets through the end of 2020?
I got on and made park reservations for my August trip. Went to my January 2021 trip and it let me make one day and then the whole thing froze and said your party has reached their limit. Only got 7 days in August. Different reservation for January. Shouldn’t I be able to make Park passes for my January trip?
I had to book my Day 2 Animal Kingdom reservation twice (don’t ask) and the first time my hours were 8-6, and the second time they were 9-7. Does that mean Disney is capping guests at 10 hours in the park, and we’d have to leave at 6 or 7, regardless if it closed later?
Bonnie and Sarah, my understanding is that you can buy tickets on June 24th and then make your park reservations.
So when you enter the park, all you need is a magicband or card? Both your admission and reservation are linked to those two devices? And what card are they referring to? Thanks for putting up with all these questions!
Val, that was my understanding. I’ll let the team know to look out for this.
Are they doing this in phases? I am suppose to go in September I got to the calendar page 3 times and it was all blocked off every single time. I have everything linked so it makes no sense.
I have a resort reservation and 9 day ticket package for check in on 9/20/20 with check out on Monday 9/28. I was able to secure park reservations for all the dates except the last day 9/28. (I guess I am lucky here.) When I went to reserve the last day it said I was not eligible as there was no reservation. Is this because its resort check out day and they don’t see the resort stay? Is this is glitch or does it mean I will need to come back later when and reserve the last day when the non-resort reservations open?
Kristen, today’s Disney Park Pass reservations opened just for guests with valid tickets AND Disney Resort reservations. This includes stays in 2020 and 2021 that meet that criteria.
CeCe, to be honest, I think it’s too soon to know. We will have to wait and see what happens. As for buying tickets and accessing Disney Park Pass reservations, 2020 ticket sales should resume this summer (perhaps as early as next week), and 2021 ticket sales are expected “by June 28”.
Good luck, Stephanie!
I have been online and waiting to get a reservation since 7am. It is now almost 1pm. Still waiting. Any tricks or suggestions?
Can Shades of Green guests with resort and tickets book today?
How many park passes can you have at once as I’ve seen multiple answers. This is for DVC members that have multiple trips and APs. Some said they capped out at 9 and others have 30. Of course we’re also dealing with Disney IT. Thank you!
Aaron, I hope this gets sorted out for you. We’ll keep following up on the DPP system to see if these issues sort out or if they’re genuinely booked up already.
Amber, I hear you; a lot of folks are in the same boat, I think. I genuinely have no idea what that will be like, but hopefully when sales open later this summer (possibly as early as next week) you can get clarity.
Amanda, I hope that ends up working out for you. It seems like lots of different experiences are being reported, which makes it seem like the system might be glitchy.
I was in the site and trying to set up my park reservations. I could not set them and double checked my My Disney Experience account (after waiting looking at the castle for an hour) and found tHat my resort reservation weren’t connected on my My Disney Experience account. Note to self: Make sure everything is attached and perfect and dotted and crossed or it won’t work!
David, I expect that might be a glitch. I would recommend you keep trying for that one and/or give Disney a call (perhaps when the dust settles a bit).
Alexa, they are not. Anyone with a Disney Resort reservation and valid ticket should be able to reserve DPP today. Are you able to access the Park Pass system through the My Plans link?
After 2–1/2 hours on the computer, I was finally able to access reservation system. After getting in, it was very easy and quick to navigate. I was able to get all 7 days of my vacation booked for parks. I had to log out and log back in twice because the site just seemed to be stuck on the castle “just a moment” page. Getting out and going back on worked for me.
Donna, I enjoy answering everyone’s questions (I just wish I had more answers these days). Everything in your Disney account should be accessible via a MagicBand or Key to the World card that is attached to your account. If you use a MagicBand, you can do things like scan into the Park as your admission ticket, scan into FastPass entrances (when that’s up and running again), scan to pay for things in a store or restaurant. So in theory, you could just go with the MB and be ready for almost anything. The Key to the World card is a plastic card that is attached to your account for the purposes of tickets and FastPass reservations. These used to be a familiar part of Disney vacations before MagicBands were introduced. I don’t know off the top of my head if you can charge things to your room (food or shopping) using the card; that is something I’d need to look up.
