Effective for reservations made starting March 21, 2018, registered guests at Disney World Resort hotels will be charged a nightly fee for self-parking.
The parking fee will be added to the guest’s hotel folio upon checkout. Rates will vary based on Resort type, as follows:
Value Resorts: $13 per night
Moderate Resorts: $19 per night
Deluxe Resorts: $24 per night
Tax is included for all prices above.
Complimentary standard parking is included for guests staying at the Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, with space for one motorized vehicle.
Additionally, valet parking will increase to $33 per night at Deluxe Resorts and Villas.
Disney Vacation Club Members won’t be charged for overnight self-parking when staying at a DVC Deluxe Villa (regardless of whether or not they use vacation points to reserve their stay). Nor will members be charged when using vacation points to stay at a Disney Resort hotel.
Now, how will this change affect guests hoping to dine, shop, or enjoy entertainment or recreation at a Disney Resort? At this time, “Day Guests” (those not staying overnight at the Resort) will still be able to self-park without a fee (space permitting, presumably).

I’m echoing the other sentiments here. This move is nothing but pure corporate greed. It truly is a suckerpunch for American families that travel to the parks via car. We typically stay at deluxe resorts, which are already at a premium price, to tack on extra parking fees is just tacky IMO. This is a huge opportunity for offsite hotels to grab market share.
This is just not right!! Staying in a Disney Resort is not cheap by any means!!!! Very easy to spend thousands of dollars between resort, dining, merchandise, car rental, etc. and now parking fees at your resort will be added????!! The sad thing is, there are people who will just pay it and Disney knows this. Sad!!! As if they don’t already make a fortune off of visitors!!!!
I actually can afford to spend a lot of money at WDW and have for decades, but I absolutely cannot tolerate places that charge for parking— hotels, restaurants, parks, ANY business. Even in big cities, they do it not because they must but because they can. There is no reason a business’s customer parking costs couldn’t be offset by the revenue they earn charging the prices/rates they set. Claiming they must charge the customer extra specifically fir parking or any other basic amenity is deceptive and lousy. I’m done with Disney.
So, what if you have an annual pass? This includes the cost of parking at the park. With how much I pay for that, it should cover parking at the resorts.
first off, a parking spot is a parking spot…different prices for different resort levels is ridiculous and really rather dispicable and if you are going to charge average joe then charge companies that hold their conventions there too. As a disney life time fan, im fed up with their nonsense. they have it backwards bc I find the service and cleanliness has been on a constant downslide while the nickel and diming are skyrocketing. as DVC memebers we have frequented the world much less recently opting for other disney properties and will continue to do so. sure as heck, this means disney springs will be charging shortly as well. #gougers #greed
This is NOT “OK” ?? Whatever happened to CUSTOMER SERVICE and Putting Our Guests FIRST ?? Is this the Ways of the American Businesses Now ….. “RIP OFF” the Customer !!!! Guess the Little Guy and his family dosen’t need a Vacation, just Work , Pay Taxes and then grt Ripped Off everywhere else !!!! A Great Big Thank-You “DISNEY” !!!!!! I too, even being a Pass Holder, won’t be Staying on Property anymore and I highly doubt if I renew our pass memberships !!!!
There goes my vacation! What is different at night that there needs to be a parking fee? I was so looking forward to seeing all the new rides and areas, but parking fees impact dining. RIDICULOUS
I am usually empathetic to Disney’s attempts to pull in more funds through creative methods, but this one just feels very, very wrong.
What is the point of penalizing your guests with a parking charge when they’ve already made the commitment of driving thousands of miles to come stay at your resorts, buy your food and purchase expensive theme park tickets? Wasn’t there enough sweetness in that coolada? You have to add chocolate shavings to the whipped cream?
I’m not surprised by some negative feedback, but I am surprised at just how much there is. I get it, I don’t want to pay more to go to Disney either, but to pay an extra $100 (or 1.67% more on my $6000 vacation I just took in December), I’ll pay it. Actually, I won’t pay it, I’ll pay the valet instead (if I stay at a DVC) What I don’t understand is when some of you say you’ll stay off-site now but that will “ruin” the experience. So, you’re willing to ruin your experience over $100? …..again, very small % of your total out of pocket.
I don’t like this either, but I’m not about to let it ruin my Disney vacation. We basically live paycheck-to-paycheck but rented DVC points in December and can probably do that every 2 or 3 years and if I have to pay a little extra to enjoy it all, so be it.
Re: Steve’s list…
4) If you don’t have your own bag for purchases, you can buy one of ours.
They already started doing this at Disney store at the mall. Claimed it was to “go green”.
5) One dollar charge for resort package delivery, or maybe two dollars.
During my last visit, they charged $5 to receive a package i had shipped there, just an envelope. Don’t remember them doing that in the past.
Personally I think this is a bad idea, they raise prices on tickets and the price of the annual passes. I think that people who use the lots for the day should be charged too not just resort guests. It makes me hesitant to plan another vacation with them. I hate to think that they are doing this to off set soome the cost of the new sky way they are building near art of animation. I think Walt would be disappointed. But when they were re-doing downtown Disney and turning it into Disney springs/ (looks like another outlet mall) there was a rumour I heard they were thinking of charging for parking there. Just another way to keep people from staying at the resorts and finding lodging elsewhere. Wondering if they will keep this in place or lower the price of each by half which would be better than what they want to charge.
Price not place
I ditto everyone else not happy with this – what are they thinking?!!! What happened to Walt’s original “family friendly” concept of a park? Shame on Disney execs
All,
I am confused on this part of the statement : “Disney Vacation Club Members won’t be charged for overnight self-parking when staying at a DVC Deluxe Villa (regardless of whether or not they use vacation points to reserve their stay). Nor will members be charged when using vacation points to stay at a Disney Resort hotel.”
I am a DVC member / annual passholder, will i have to pay for parking if i am NOT staying in a deluxe villa. For example a studio ?
Thanks all!

Well as a lot of already stated, I think Disney is going to discourage a lot of people. I saw posts of people that stay for weeks at a time. That is a lot of money for parking your car. As for trying to cut down on traffic, most people will use the bus. Most people drive because it is cost effective and then leave the car parked and use the buses. However, if you have reservations at other resorts, you would have to take a bus to the park and then the resort. The buses do not go from resort to resort. Yes most other places do charge for parking. But a lot of people will not stay where they do. I know I go out of my way to find a resort/hotel without parking fees. I think places that charge for parking or resort fees are short sighted. If you don’t stay on property, you are spending your money elsewhere. I will now stay at a timeshare, two bedrooms, kitchen, allowing me to bring food with me, not buying food in the park. Probably won’t stay all day, again spending money outside of the park. I love Disney, but this is disappointing. Like Universal, I guess I will be going there less and less. It’s a shame.
hi
so my trip booked 8 months ago is fine. we always fly from the uk so get a hire car. seems an odd move and is ckearly a way for them to hike costs that you wont see when you book..thankfully parking charges are rare in the uk and generally only used when there are limited spaces
seems wrong to me that guests pay but not everyone else!
This raises a question – staying at a resort used to get free parking at any of the parks — does paying this fee result in being able to go to a park with your car included? Is this fee in lieu of their raising room rates (or at least slowing that down)? Is there a parking shortage? We can expect as more new things open and the 2021 birthday celebration rolls around, the crowds will be huge. Also annual passholders get free parking at the parks (at least certain levels of the passholder options), we we get the benefit of free parking at a resort? I doubt these details have been provided or you would have posted them, but it is food for some thought.
This is the LAST STRAW! I know,I’m paying hundreds of dollars to stay at the resorts,so whats a “few” dollars more? It’s the idea that I AM PAYING HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS and yet,the Disney greed knows no bounds. They have to pinch my wallet JUST A BIT MORE ?? NO !!! NO MORE DISNEY !
Lots of us Brits very unhappy about this 🙁
Because of the very expensive airfares we tend to go to WDW for as long as possible and now we will be whacked with huge resort parking charges . On 14 night plus stays this really racks up.
Staying onsite should not be just for the mega rich and our visits involve at least 3 years of saving to pay for our WDW stays so very upset over this.
I feel if they are going through with this that people who park there to get to the parks or have breakfast/lunch/dinner reservations that they should be charged too. It’s not fair to charge the resort guests and not charge others who are only there for the day/evening.
I always drive to Disney, to pay to park is very disappointing, and selfish of Disney. And to charge different fees depending on what hotel you are staying at is ridiculous! A parking spot is just that, a parking spot. Same tar, same painted lines. At least if your going to do this make them be all one price, the lower fee. No parking spot is better then the next one that you have to increase the price for the better hotels.
I know many people think this is ok because other places do this, but think about this for a minute. When you go to the grocery store do you pay the store for parking? When you go to the hardware store do you have to pay for parking? Why don’t you? Because they want you to come into their stores and spend money. It’s not like Disney needs the money from parking. I have always resented places that charge me to come in and spend my money at their places of business.
Two observations:
Some people here are kidding about soon having to pay extra for special express busses… this already exists. $15 per day and you can ride the express bus system.
Additionally, if Disney wanted to make an extra $20 or so per family, per day, they could just increase Resort costs by that amount. The fact that they are making this a separate charge, surely having guessed it would receive negative response… there must be an intentional reason behind the fee?
When you combine these two facts, it makes me think that as a solution to the notorious transportation shortcomings, they implemented this costly prime shuttle service. When people weren’t taking advantage of it (bloggers who post paid advertisements for the service seem to be on deserted busses) they thought perhaps they would make parking cost a similar amount. Then families will feel the paid shuttle service is worth the cost… maybe?
I think a lot of families bring cars because they drive or Disney, or in order to go visit grocery stores, Universal, etc. or just save on airport taxis . They park cars but then still use Disney shuttles and monorail. Perhaps this is their way of discouraging such people?
Whatever the reason, I think it’s ridiculous. On site hotels already cost far more than luxury offsite properties with vastly superior amenities . Soon “normal” people won’t even be able to afford Disney vacations.
Please disregard my previous comment about price not place.
Way to go Disney!! Where is the Magic now? So you will now charge me to drive a car to visit and stay on site versus a Magic Express bus from the airport and back . What am I missing here?? Oh, that will be the next “little” added charge. I really don’t care what other resorts in Florida are doing, Disney makes more than their fair share on room costs to cover parking. They are certainly not located in an area where there isn’t available real estate. My family and I have been loyal Disney World visitors for over 25 years and this change along with many other costly and customer unfriendly changes will make me find other places to spend my vacation money. Walt Disney World please rethink what your are doing. I’m finished!!
When Walt Disney built this empire, I think it was to provide a safe and affordable place for families to come and get away from the day to day pressures.
I am sure he would not be happy with the outrageous prices charged to get into the parks, let alone stay at the resorts. Our family just made a trip to Disneyland and it costs me $660 for a three day park hopper pass for my sister and myself to get into the parks.
My nephew had to pay over $1800 to get his family into the parks for four night stay. That is outrageous! We did it because it was a birthday celebration for my niece’s birthday.
This is a family that lost everything in the Tubbs Fire in Santa Rosa last October, but their daughter wanted to celebrate her birthday in Disneyland, so they saved and made it happen.
There are many families that would love to do the same for their families, but the Disney Corporation has made that impossible by continually raising the prices.
I think that Disney needs to stop competing with the other parks / resorts, like Universal, SeaWorld, etc. by raising your tickets and hotels and now parking, and embrace the family’s that love and support the mouse and friends.
We are grateful that we made the celebration trip happen, but I am questioning if we will be able to go in the future.
I see a lot of comments posted from other families, are they ever addressed and responded to by Disney?
Thanks for listening!
Raise the price of admission, raise the prices of food/drinks, raise the price of staying in resort hotels, and start charging resort guests to park at the resort hotel where they are staying—-anybody notice the pattern here? Disney used to be a “Magical Place”, but it is turning into a “money pit”
Just one price increase wouldnt stop me from going to disney, but they’ve had too many recently. There are plenty of people complaining, but that in itself won’t change anything. Disney loves making money, so what will make the biggest impact is to stop going there on vacation. I doubt if I’ll ever go back
I have defended Disney’s prices to friends for years, but this one is ridiculous and beyond defendable. They are not in NYC where parking is at a premium; the lots at the resorts we have stayed in are half full at best. This year they are charging us an additional $15 per night to have our 19 year old son in the room (a third “adult”). And now this? After 10+ stays, we will regrettably be starting to look at offsite options for our next trip.
Disney just get it over with and do ala carte !! Tell your guests what they owe when leaving lol and by the way ALL DISNEY GUESTS made Disney the multi billion dollar company that you are today remember that !!
We have DVC members since 2003. We realize costs have gone up but this is sinking to new levels of low. If your objective is to price people out of your market, this is a giant step in the right direction. We think it is deplorable and hope you will reconsider.
This parking fee ENDS MY STAYING AT DISNEY !!!!! TOO GREEDY !!!!
When you budget for a Disney vacation, you have only so much money to spend therefore if you now have to pay for parking it’s less money you can spend on meals, snacks, gifts, etc. So one way or the other Disney is going to get that money regardless. We just got back from Disney, stayed on property and were told at check in we could take $10.00 off our room per night if we didn’t have housekeeping, it was paid in the form of a gift card. Changes are happening, good, bad, time will tell.
It’s a shame that prices keep rising but now a parking fee for resort guests is shameful. Might have to rethink where to spend hotel dollars.
What Walt Disney envisioned as the “Happiest Place on Earth”, has now become the “Happiest Most Expensive Place on Earth”. Sooner or later, Disney greed will collapse on itself.
This is crazy. Is Disney trying to push away its loyal followers?!?! Prices continue to increase making it hard for average families to enjoy a Disney vacation. Disney has become a very greedy company. Families staying at a Disney Resort should not have to pay for parking PERIOD!! It is greed plain and simply.
It’s a shame you raised prices at the parks when ever you want guess still come to the parks and now you want to add parking fees to your guess it really is messed up the most expensive place on earth it should be called
We come from the UK and usually hire a car and stay at Disney for 3 weeks. This is a huge amount to add to our folio at checkout, especially as the room rates are already very high compared to neighbouring hotels. Might be enough to make us rethink our plans. Perhaps we just stay at Disney for a week, then move somewhere cheaper and explore other parts of Florida.
Another money grab. Must be necessary to help pay for all the road improvements, since the Resort is so broke…as if!
I won’t stop going to Disney or even reduce the frequency that I go, which is currently at least annually, but maybe it’s finally time to think about staying offsite. There are nicer hotels off site that are MUCH cheaper (even cheaper than after applying any Disney discounts), free to park and that run a shuttle to WDW parks. I can still add the DDP and probably still come out ahead. The only downside I can see is losing access to Magic Hours and early access to FP’s. Magic Hours are becoming less of a perk anyway, as fewer nighttime hours seem to be added every year.
This is ridiculous.
It’s unfortunate that now charging for parking is necessary. With the high prices of the vacation the perk of free parking was nice. It’s all about greed and not affordability, i bet Mr. Disney is rolling over in his grave, i dont think this is what he had in mind for families.
You have to be kidding me!!!!! Guess this will be my last trip to Disney.
Yes everyone else does it. It was the one thing that gave Disney an upper hand on Universal. I meet my family from New Jersey year, and we would stay at a Disney resort even though we were spending more days at Universal. I don’t know why hotels do this anyway . I am pay to stay,
Don’t charge me to park or resort fees for amenities I don’t use. I would rather you just price the room $20.00 more.
When is it going to be enough money for Disney? You’re going to raise your prices so much that business will suffer. That’s what happens when greed gets the best of a Company and Disney is not about patrons it’s about Disney. So sad
I see the mouse is getting greedier, shorten various seasons, higher week end rates, now pay to park your car
pure GREED. I have other thing to spend my money on.
I believe this is a truly poor decision on Disney’s part – currently there is a $22.00 charge to drive in from off Disney property and park to go into the parks…with this new charge, if staying at Wilderness Lodge, I’ll be paying $24.00 – WHAT?! I’ll pay more than someone off property pays – REALLY?!
I called guest relations and they recommended sending emails to this address:
[email protected]
I hope everyone will email Disney and share their concerns – this seems to be a very poor customer relationship decision:(
They should be ashamed of themselves! The cost of the rooms is bad enough! Then the ticket prices and food are ridiculously high priced as well! How greedy can they be to now charge a parking space where you park your own car! Very unhappy and disappointed in Disney!
honestly it’s making me seriously reconsider staying on site. I’m sure the Swan and Dolphin love it as some of the other non Disney owned hotels in the resort areas.
Are they in that great a need of room to expand? Considering the remote areas of the resort that are going fallow such as the old wilderness areas I very much doubt that. This is a cash grab pure and simple to pay for the new transportation system.
SHAME ON YOU WDW. Walt must be spinning like a top right about now.
It makes one think that maybe Universal needs my business more than you do WDW.
