Just the other day we shared word that one of our favorite Disney performers will be sharing his music at The Boathouse — the next restaurant presumed to be arriving on the Disney dining scene at Disney World’s Disney Springs.
While all signs are pointing to a possible April 13th opening, we can’t yet confirm the opening date. What we can do today, though is give you a glimpse at The Boathouse menu — AND show you some food photos of the menu items! Now, remember, all information here is subject to change. But let’s have a look at a few screenshots from the My Disney Experience app, along with a few pictures from theboathouseorlando.com (huge thanks to DFB reader Jenny M. for giving us the heads up on these pics!). You’ll want to make yourself comfy, because the list is pretty extensive!
As anticipated, this signature restaurant will focus on steaks, chops and seafood. In fact, let’s start with a look at the Steak, Chops & Provisions menu (for this first screenshot, I’ve left the map image so you can see where The Boathouse will be located — right next to Fulton’s). Among the many selections you’ll notice Filet Mignon and New York Strip (both with Bone-in options), a Porterhouse for Two, and a Tomahawk Long Bone Rib Chop for Two.
The “Green Grass and High Tides” selections offer Surf and Turf made for sharing. The Beach & Sea Lobster Bake serves two, while The Boathouse Surf & Turf Table serves four.
The Fish or Cut Bait menu offers dishes such as Wild Baja Shrimp de Jonghe and Hoison Glazed Florida Wahoo.
But then, you may prefer to start with some appetizers from
the “Launch” options, including Firecracker Shrimp and Coconut Frog Legs.
“Stem to Stern” features Baked Crab Stuffed Lobster and Jumbo Lump Crab Cake as well as a Half Rotisserie Amish Chicken among the options for the landlubbers in your group.
Here’s a peek from the highly anticipated Raw Bar menu. Anastasia Gold Cavier, anyone 😉 ?
The Field Day menu gives us a look at the Salad options.
Among the Side Items you’ll find Shrimp & Andouille Mac ‘n Cheese (spelled incorrectly in the menu?) and Roasted Wild Mushrooms.
Of course, you can’t forget the “Ports of Call”!
The “Not So Bitter End” gives us the dessert choices, like Whiskey Caramel Cornbread Cake and another shareable item: S’mores Baked Alaska for 4. (Clearly, the fact that one of the desserts is duplicated means that this is a preliminary menu and will be updated before the opening.)
Oh, and the kiddos haven’t been forgotten! Here’s a look at the Kids’ Entrees, featuring Make Your Own Tacos and “Sticks and Stones” (Chicken Tenders and Fresh Fish Nuggets).
And for dessert, children can choose from items like an Icee Brain Freeze Float (no fair! Kids have all the fun! 😉 ), and an Oreo Chocolate Fudge Sundae.
And one more for the kids… they can grab an Icee in a Lighthouse Cup to remember their time at The Boathouse!
And, there you have it. Whew!
While it’s clear that things will change a bit on this menu (I imagine many of the prices are stand-ins at this time), we’re looking forward to keeping you posted on more news from The Boathouse in the weeks to come!
I don’t know about you, but I’m hungry already 😉 .
Are you looking forward to dining at The Boathouse? Please let us know with a comment!
As vegetarians, at least the “Garden Pasta Shells” look promising! =)
Looks like a fun restaurant with lots of theming and atmosphere, will at least stop in for a couple of drinks. It’s been neat watching this place get built!
Surely the prices in the side items menu are placeholders…$9 for fries? $21 for a side of asparagus???
This is just one more example of how WDW is pricing themselves totally out of reach of “normal” people and catering to the rich. I’ve already scratched this place off my list cause I simply CANNOT afford it. Walt must be spinning in his grave these days. He wanted Disneyland and Disney World to be affordable to EVERYONE!!!!
Just in case I didn’t spend enough money for apps, dinner and dessert, I think I’ll top it off with that $14 coffee….not.
These prices??? I thought I had become immune to Disney pricing over the years, but this has taken it to a new level!! $21 dollars for a side of mushrooms??
I am excited to try the Boathouse out and see all the work they have done, but ouch 21.00 for asparagus?
Hopefully it is all organically grown in the living sea’s pavilion, picked by certified USA farmers wearing special sterilized gloves, rinsed in artesian spring water, seasoned with Amabito No Moshio Japanese seaweed salt, and butter churned from Walts relatives. Served by singing waiters in a Waterford crystal dish, Then maybe I could see it. So like JennM I am hoping it is just a placeholder for now. 🙂
Agree with other posters above, just seems too pricy for my taste.
I guess that all coinsides with the signature dining option on the dining menu…Gotta upcharge those meals for the dining plans.
The comments about the asparagus too, and a side of corn for $10??
How about that $115 32 oz steak for 2 people! It looks tasty but I will pass on the price.
At those prices for entrees (never mind the sides), no thank you.
I agree with Steve! Walt’s whole idea for Disneyland and Walt Disney World was to bring families together and let everyone enjoy. I wouldn’t go to The Boathouse as a couple, let alone gathering with your family. Looks like a great atmosphere but I will be seeing it from the outside.
That’s what makes these reviews so priceless. I won’t be looking forward to trying someplace that I can’t afford…it helps skip the disappointment.
$21.00 for a bowl of soup? No thanks!
My Disney Experience says they do not take the Dining Plan.
Wow. I would pay those prices for a steak at Cut in Beverly Hills because it would be the best steak I’d had in my entire life. But there is no way a Disney steak is ever gonna be worth $115.
Am I reading this right that it looks like their pricing model will be to not include sides with the entrees? By steakhouse standards, their prices look reasonable at first glance, but if the sides cost extra, then I think I’ll invest my steakhouse dollars elsewhere.
Thanks for sharing.
Regarding the prices, AJ mentions in the article itself she thinks many of the prices are stand ins … so save the outrage until the finalized menu is available. No doubt they will mark the prices up to continue fooling people into thinking the Dining Plan is some kind of value … but I doubt even Disney would be floating out a side of asparagus for $21.
Ummm no. 9.00 for a side of fries? That’s insane.
Ahhh!!!! I can not wait for this!! If you need help reviewing the menu, you know where to find me. 🙂 Any other high end steak/seafood place is the same price range. Um…Shula’s anyone?? Same thing, seriously. I’ll pay for amazing food. Sign me up!
I am hoping to add this to my list of signature restaurants I have eaten at when I am there in May. I still need Artist Point, Flying Fish, and Monsieur Paul and i will have eaten at them all. Deluxe Dining plan is worth the money if you use your credits at signature restaurants. I am not rich by any means and these placeholder prices aren’t that ridiculous compared to some chains restaurants.
$10 for a child’s mac and cheese? seriously? the adult entrees are expensive enough but add in the kids menu pricing and that takes well beyond reason
Thanks to John for pointing out that I do, indeed, note that I believe pricing on this menu is simply a stand-in at the moment. It was our goal on the site to give you an idea of what kinds of entrees and options would be available at the Boathouse. So don’t rule it out of your plans just yet based on price.
Jenn — I can ALWAYS use help!!
I do not see the issue with the prices. The prices are the same or lower than many of the other table service restaurants at Disney.
Too expensive for my taste!!!!
Sounds expensive, but GREAT! I would love to try it if it is open by the end of April – our next trip! When can we start making rezzies??
I can’t wait to eat here! Waiting for ADR’s to open! My boyfriend & I will be eating here to celebrate his graduation on our next trip. I know it’s pricy but I’m still looking forward to this!
Looks like NYC/DC prices, but if the quality and service is there, then they will be full all the time. It is clear Disney is stepping up its game to keep WDW a destination not just for families with small children, but as a resort of choice for those looking for a bit more. Folks spending big on hotel rooms and golf rounds want a deluxe dining experience. Bringing internationally known restaurants and chefs into the new Disney Springs will do just that.
I respectfully disagree with those who say Walt would not approve. We don’t know what he might have done had he lived another 10 or 20 years. His idea was to provide a place where children and parents could enjoy themselves together; I don’t remember anything about it being affordable to everyone. I think Disney does a pretty good job of providing meals at various price points. If this is out of your range, try the House of Blues BBQ stand or Wolfgang Puck Express, or an interesting restaurant like Sanaa. We don’t like to overspend on our meals which is why we usually only do a couple of TS per trip. But that doesn’t mean we wouldn’t consider this for one of those meals, especially when I know how easy it is to spend $200 for three people to eat at almost any WDW TS resort restaurant.
Those prices are way too high for us.
It’s also possible that those are family sized side dishes. Ruth’s Chris and other steakhouses do that.
Not sure what the deal is with the $21 chowder though.
I will go to Frank’s Steakhouse in Cambridge, MA and instead have the three pound version for $49. It also comes with two salads and two sides.
21 dollars for a side of asparagus, are you freaking kidding me?! Definitely won’t be going there…
$21 for a salad? $21 for Mushrooms? No way. Oh, and my kids are 10 and 12 so they need to order off the adult menu. We won’t be visiting this place unless the prices come down.
Jenn and Sandra get it….but judging by the comments from the masses on here, we shouldn’t have a problem getting a reservation. Hopefully the quality of the service and cuisine will be in the same realm as Blue Zoo, Shula’s, Jiko, Capa, etc….the World desperately needs more of that caliber and less budget-driven, replacement-level eateries
1. Walt didn’t build DisneyLand to combat class warfare. That line of thinking leads to misplaced angst.
2. This restaurant isn’t owned by Disney. If you must complain, complain to Schussler Creative, not to Disney.
3. The prices aren’t official yet. The Boathouse isn’t open yet, relax.
4. If the prices do turn out to be to high for you, don’t go. Not everything is for everybody.
SO excited for the Boathouse to open. Menu looks great. I wish people would actually read the article and see that these are likely NOT the prices. Thank you for the info!!
$21 Asparagus. Hey, I once had an $18 dollar roasted carrot. (It was a great carrot.)
If the prices and menu are not up on the official website I’d take this with a huge grain of salt. They would release them on their own site at either the same time or just before they are released by Disney.
Now, if these are not the prices someone should get seriously chewed out for putting them on the My Disney Experience app as placeholders. They are equal to or more than you’d pay at NYC’s finest steakhouses, like the Michelin starred M Wells, Keens (Zagat 26 out of 30), or Peter Luger. I can’t believe that they would outprice Keen’s.
I don’t mind paying a bit for good food but it is funny that the shrimp costs $19 and I don’t think there are 19 shrimp. Those babies aren’t jumbo if you get my drift.
By the time I purchased the entire meal and a tip, imagine the tip alone, I could renew my annual pass for that cost of a meal.
The lobster bake and the surf and turf table for 4 seem very reasonably priced
Remember that this restaurant is NOT owned by Disney. Therefore, Disney does not set the price.
Some of those prices look awfully high, but then the price of the Beach & Sea Lobster Bake for two is fairly low at $60 ($30 per person). So I think those prices cannot be what we’ll see on the actual menu once the place is open.
Will this restaurant be part of the dining plan?
I find it very humorous how many people rush to add comments when they (a) clearly haven’t read the actual article and (b) haven’t read of the comments already made. 3/4 of the comments are about the prices which were clearly noted to be “placeholders” and not the actual final menu prices, which I would assume are not released. I’m sure this place won’t be cheap, but I’m equally sure they aren’t charging $21 for asparagus or soup.
This restaurant is not listed as a part of the dining plan at all. Deluxe or otherwise. Guess I won’t be eating there either. Could you see their face if I just ordered mushrooms and water? LOL
I agree with the majority of these comments – the prices are extreme – but realistically speaking, there are tens of thousands worldwide who can easily afford to eat a full course meal at this new restaurant. And don’t forget the new Four Seasons Hotel with $1000/night room prices. Do not underestimate the incredible prosperity of many (or the billions of those in poverty or hunger).
Thankfully, I’m closer to the former versus the ladder.
Note: Fairly certain these prices will stay.
@John Mmmmnope. AJ says she imagines they are stand-ins, but nowhere are the prices “clearly” or officially noted by the restaurant to be placeholders. So I don’t think anyone should be ridiculed for being alarmed at these price points even if they aren’t yet set in stone.
I really like this menu. It’s definitely expensive, but price-wise, it’s right where I expected it to be. As soon as I heard about the “experience” and the cruises, I knew this place would be pricey. It’s actually right about on par with STK (so be prepared.)
I will say this – I do think some of the prices are placeholders, while others may not be. Typically a Raw Bar goes by market price. Right now the oysters are listed at $3.50 a piece, but I’d expect that to be changed.
As far as the sides go – don’t hold you breath. Many steak houses have guests select their entree and then serve sides family style. So, while $21 sounds like a lot – for a family of 3, that’s equates to $7 and a family of 4, that equates to ~$5.25 per person – which isn’t terrible. But, I’d like to see what the portions look like. Does each person get two of those huge asparagus (asparagi??), are they the small asparagus or just the tip? Who knows. Until we get more photos, I’ll hold my judgement.
I will say this – I’m excited about the restaurants opening. I love chef Morimoto, love the concept of this restaurant and love STK. But, I’d like to see them add a new moderately priced restaurant. I know they have Rainforest and all, but maybe another place where you can get reasonably priced food and still have a great experience.
This looks like it’s going to be amazing! It would be great if it were part of the dining plan, because otherwise it’s way to expensive. The concept is great though!
These prices are insane. Even for a steak house…a steak house place in Florida.
Places like Ruth Chris, Shula, The Palms..etc. Come close…but not in Florida.
Disney is also forgetting that places like ones mentioned above are expense account places.
People will take a client(s) out to eat and a steak house is a safe bet to please all people.
That goes on the expense account for the big wigs courting clients.
How many people will take clients to this place when there are other non-disney places to go?
How many guests will pay these prices on vacation–when there are other similar options to had. I think the Yachtsman steak house is pricey, but this place takes the cake.
Wow! This post made Eater AND Huffington Post!
Congrats, AJ.
bet the food will be good!
Prices are very high, but many in line with Disneys table service restaurants as far as the steaks go. I’d like to try it, but hubby says too expensive, he’s a meat eater, I’d like the salmon, if it is not farm raised!
Maybe we could just have an ice tea and enjoy the ambiance!
