Many guests line up at Writer’s Stop in Disney’s Hollywood Studios for the popular carrot cake cookie!
It’s easily one of our favorite places to hang out in the Studios!
But we’ve got something NEW to share from Writer’s Stop today — Mickey Macaroons! More like a macaron than a macaroon (but we’ve had that definition battle before), this is basically a fluffy baked cookie sandwich. 🙂
The best part of this Fall-colored treat? It’s Mickey-shaped!
Macarons have popped up in earnest over at Epcot’s France pavilion (they even have an awesome macaron ice cream sandwich!), but this is one of the first times we’ve seen them in a standard Disney bakery.
You can get your Mickey Macaroon for $2.49 or a Disney Dining Plan snack credit.
According to DFB reader and friend Daniel Wanderman, who sent the pics this morning, the macaroon wasn’t the greatest he’d ever had. He mentioned it had almost a “weird burnty food coloringy taste.” He even wondered if maybe it had been sitting out too long!
He highly recommended getting the old stand-by — the carrot cake cookie — instead. 😉
If you choose to sample the new treat, let us know what YOU think!

Man, talk about a downer – I was SO EXCITED until I got to the review portion. Hmm. Well, maybe I’ll get one to try anyway, and then purchase a carrot cake cookie too just in case. 😀
I’m curious whether what flavors are (or are supposed to be). The colors are quite vivid so I wonder if the flavors equate to orange, lemon, and chocolate. If so, perhaps the individual flavors have combined in the case. Hmm. Still anxious for a Laduree shop at Epcot!!
Omgosh, those are adooorable. I must have.
If these were presented on MasterChef, the cook would get a tongue lashing from gordon ramsey. You can see the piping.
I noticed that Boardwalk Bakery has a beautiful-looking raspberry macaron. Looks huge! Looks awesome!
A.J. – you really need to create an app that directs us to all of these goodies. I read about them all year and can’t recall everything that I want to try while I’m in the parks. Yes, an app that you can tap on “best cupcakes”, “best hamburgers”, “best steaks”, etc. Check out the beers and ears app, something similar to that. Love your web site but it’s difficult navigating a web site with a small screen phone while in the parks.
We’re at WDW this week, and have seen these goodies at several bakeries, including Goofy’s Candy Company and the gift shop at the Contemporary…hoping to have the chance to try one! 🙂
My world is now complete.
They are just ok. I had both the orange and the yellow. The filling is sort of chocolately hazelnuts. The outside is surprisingly flavorless. I have had some awesomely flavored macarons before and these were definitely lacking in the flavor department. I still enjoyed them but would probably try something else next time.
I found these at the Main Street Confectionary. Earlier in my trip I had the amazingly delicious macaroon ice cream sandwich from the France pavilion. So when I saw these on the last day on my trip I was so excited. Very very disappointed. Was nothing like a classic French macaroon. Didn’t have much taste and the texture wasn’t right either. Not disgusting, but not great.
I’ve also had the delicious macaroon ice cream sandwich in the France pavilion that Liz refers to…its a taste like no other. Must be tried, and once tested, there is no turning back. It sounds like these little Mickey shaped wannabes can’t hold a candle to them. Guess I will just stick with my favorites for a while. Thanks for sharing 🙂
They have Christmas ones at Main St Bakery. They were labeled as cookies which made me wonder if they did that to cover themselves since it didn’t really taste like a macaron whatsoever.
