I absolutely cannot resist a stroll through Mitsukoshi Department Store in the Japan Pavilion whenever I am in Epcot. I mean, I have to have my Pocky fix, don’t I?! And on my last stroll through the store, something caught my eye that I was SUPER excited to see!

It seems that guests think the plates look just like the front of the monorail. (Looking more closely, they may be airplanes, but there are no wings, so I’m all for the monorail theory.)
So I was so excited to share these with those of you who have been wondering!
To be honest, the price is pretty steep — they will set you back $49 to be exact. But, you’ll have a monorail on your kitchen table, so that’s pretty cool.

That is soo awesome!!! You’re right, the price is a little steep… But it’s a MONORAIL PLATE! lol I think I would be very very tempted to buy it.

These actually look quite a bit like the kids’ bento boxes that are sold in some large train stations in Japan (such as the station in Kyoto, where I have seen them). I believe the intention there is that they resemble a Japanese bullet train, the Shinkansen. They are sold prepackaged with small portions of different meats, veggies, and rices and can be kept afterwards as a souvenir.
Finally! These haven’t been available for years! Yay!!

I agree it is a bit steep, but it looks glass. How big it is, that would also help me with do I get it or not?

oh my goodness.. first of all.. that is awesome. Second of all.. we have a choo choo soul CD and there is a song about a “bullet train” … and I never knew the actual name of it. Now I do! Shinkansen! Thank you!
I thought these were served with the kids meal at Tokyo Dining not Teppan Edo. We’ve dined at Teppan Edo many times with our own children and the children are given the same plates as the adults.
This may be a nice splurge for a family with one “little darling” but it’s too costly for my 4 little darlings. Cute though!
