My family has been going to Mickey’s Halloween Party at Disneyland every year since it first debuted at California Adventure six years ago for $15 a ticket.
What to Expect at Mickey’s Halloween Party
The party has evolved over the past several years including a move over to Disneyland two years ago. It’s become bigger, better and more expensive! An amazing fireworks show, Halloween Screams, has been added, more dance areas have been added and even more trick or treat candy stops have been added. Even Space Mountain gets in on the event, transforming the ride to “Ghost Galaxy.”

Special events during Mickey’s Halloween Party include two showings of Mickey’s Costume Cavalcade, a parade featuring favorite Disney characters dressed in their Halloween best.
There is also live entertainment throughout the park: Buzz Lightyear’s Intergalactic Space Jam takes place at Tomorrowland Terrace while the Piratepalooza rocks on over at Rancho del Zocalo. Special character greetings can also be found around the park. We always love visiting with characters that aren’t normally seen around the resort. Some special Halloween guests include the Disney Villains and Phineas & Ferb (including Perry!).
Treats!
The trick or treat stops this year were once again stocked premium candy…

If you’re not into candy, there were plenty of healthy options like carrots, apples, Craisins, and other dried fruit to choose from. Personally, I like to get a good mix of both!
The amount of candy that we took home was ridiculous. We had enough that I did not have to buy candy to pass out on Halloween night. We also brought home plenty of healthy treats too!
To Costume, or not to Costume
My family always dresses up for Mickey’s Halloween Party; costumes over the years have included Monster’s Inc., Kiss, Astronauts, Ghostbusters, Toy Story, and this year we went all out with a Mary Poppins theme. Here’s a few fun photos for you!
Specs to Remember for Next Year
Mickey’s Halloween Party runs Tuesdays & Fridays October 7th-28th as well as on Halloween. The party officially starts at 7:00 pm and runs until 11:00 pm on Tuesdays and 12:00 am on Fridays.
If you have a party ticket, you may enter the park 3 hours prior to the event (you are given a special wristband upon entrance). Tickets range between $44-$64, depending on which night you go as well as if you are an annual pass holder. Mickey’s Halloween Party sells out quickly, so advance ticket purchase is highly recommended.
My favorite thing to do at Mickey’s Halloween Party is peoplewatch and check out all of the creative costumes and decor throughout the night. I also love riding my favorite rides all dressed up, and of course trick or treating! Do you have a favorite thing to do at this “Spooktacular” event?
Looks like fun. WHERE did you get those Mary Poppins costumes? Did you make them? They look as good as the costumes the cast members wear!
Your costumes are amazing!
Thanks, we made some parts, bought some parts and had some parts made!
Gushing over your costumes, so wonderful. And, what a lovely family memory to go each year and enjoy the Halloween fun. (How did you navigate the park and all the rides in those shoes????)
@Paula – Those shoes lasted about one hour! I had ballet slippers in my bag!
WOW! love your costumes! Any insight on where you got them made?
Mine was made here: http://www.trashy.com/ Don’t let the name of the place fool you! ; )
Do adults have to be in costume? I am not really a costume person but want to take my girls this year (2012) for the Halloween festivities. When do tickets usually go on sale? Do you have to leave the park and re-enter for the party or do you get a wrist band when you enter into the park in the morning with your regular park pass? Thanks for posting your pics and information…it’s very helpful for those of us who have never been there!
Nicole — Adults don’t have to be in costume (neither do kids!). Tickets depends on whether you’d like to go to the Disney World Halloween Party or the Disneyland Halloween Party (as this post is about Disneyland). You don’t have to leave the park and re-enter to get wristbands, just find a cast member giving out wristbands and show him your tickets toward the start of the party time.
